In April 2024, Butter Braid® Pastries and Country Maid, Inc. entered the first-ever “Coolest Thing Made in Iowa” contest.
The “Coolest Thing Made in Iowa” Contest
The nominees for the contest, over 60 in total, were announced on Friday, April 19th. The following Monday, all the products nominated competed in a popular vote round which concluded on April 30th. On May 1st, it was announced that Butter Braid® Pastries had moved on to the Top 16. During this round, products began to compete in head-to-head matchups.
After voting in this round concluded, Butter Braid® Pastries were thrilled to learn we had made it into the Top 8! For this round, we competed against a custom-built pipe organ from Dobson Pipe Organ Builders. Butter Braid® Pastry supporters rose up to represent their favorite Iowa-based product while Dobson Pipe Organ Builders orchestrated a huge turnout of supporters for their product. Unfortunately, Butter Braid® Pastries didn’t quite receive enough votes to move on to the Final Four.
The final round of the “Coolest Thing Made in Iowa” contest is going on right now. Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, Musco Lighting, Sukup Manufacturing, and the Vermeer Corporation are the four companies left competing for the ultimate prize…to be named the Coolest Thing Made in Iowa for 2024. ABI is announcing the winner on June 5th.

While it was disappointing to not make it to the final round, we are immensely grateful for each and every one of you who took the time to vote and cheer us on throughout this journey.
