Ingredients

  • 1 package Butter Braid® Caramel Pastry Rolls

  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

  • ¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper (optional)

  • ¼ cup butter, melted

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup

  • Caramel packet (included with Butter Braid® Caramel Pastry Rolls)

  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Directions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Caramel Rolls
  • Remove the Butter Braid® Caramel Pastry Rolls from the freezer and allow them to thaw according to the package directions, about 2 hours.

  • Step 2: Make the Candied Bacon
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the bacon in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and cracked black pepper, if using. Brush the mixture generously over each slice of bacon.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bacon is caramelized and crisp. Keep an eye on it during the last few minutes to prevent the sugar from burning.
  • Transfer the bacon to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely. Once cooled, chop about two-thirds of the bacon into small pieces and reserve the remaining pieces for topping the finished rolls.

  • Step 3: Prepare the Maple Caramel
  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and both caramel packets included with the Butter Braid® Caramel Pastry Rolls. Stir until smooth.
  • Spread the mixture evenly over the bottom of a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the chopped candied bacon across the caramel mixture.

  • Step 4: Assemble the Rolls
  • Place the thawed Caramel Pastry Rolls directly on top of the maple caramel and bacon mixture, leaving a little space between each roll for rising.
  • Allow the rolls to rise according to the package directions.

  • Step 5: Bake
  • Bake according to the Butter Braid® Caramel Pastry Roll package directions, or until the rolls are golden brown and baked through, about 25–30 minutes.
  • Let the pan rest for 3–5 minutes after baking. Carefully invert it onto a serving platter so the warm maple caramel flows over the rolls.
  • Sprinkle the reserved candied bacon over the top while the rolls are still warm.
  • For an extra touch, drizzle with a little additional maple syrup and finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  • Serve warm.
